Interreg project “New destinations in cross-border tourism”
Oltenia Museum Craiova as Project Partner – Beneficiary 2, together with Municipality of Varshets, Bulgaria obtained funding under the Interreg VA Romania-Bulgaria Program, Priority Axis 2 – A Green Region, Specific Objective: 2.1 Improving the sustainable use of natural heritage and resources and cultural heritage, for the project “New destinations in cross-border tourism”, project code e-Ms ROBG-471.
The financing contract between the Ministry of Regional Development, Public Administration and European Funds and Oltenia Museum Craiova was signed on August 21st, 2018, the implementation period of the project being 36 months.
The total budget of the project is 1,364,438.31 EUR, financed 85% from the European Regional Development Fund of the European Union (ERDF – 1,159,772.56 EUR), 13% from the national budget and 2% from the local budget.
Of the total eligible value of the project, Oltenia Museum Craiova has the amount of 459,451.39 EUR.
The general objective of the project is to promote cooperation between institutions and people through the use of cultural and natural resources, in a sustainable tourist way, in Dolj-Montana cross-border region.
The following main activities will be carried out within the project:
- – construction of a museum complex in Varshets: Paleo Park and Information Center;
- – equipping Oltenia Museum Craiova with innovative interactive equipment for carrying out activities of documentation, education and promotion of the cultural heritage held;
- – joint activities for cooperation between institutions and professionals working in the field of museums and tourism in Dolj and Montan
