In the period 15-17 March 2022, the Final Conference of the project “New destinations in cross-border tourism”, project code e-MS ROBG-471, took place in Varshets (Bulgaria).
The Final Conference of the project was attended by representatives of the Romanian and Bulgarian authorities, members of the Romanian-Bulgarian project implementation team and representatives of interested stakeholders.
The project “New destinations in cross-border tourism” had an implementation period of 43 months (August 2018 – March 2022) and was co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund under the Interreg VA Romania-Bulgaria Program, Axis Priority 2 – A green region, Specific objective: 2.1 Improving the sustainable use of natural heritage and resources and cultural heritage.
The partners in this project were the Municipality of Varshets, Montana (Leader) and the Museum of Oltenia Craiova.
The total budget of the project was 1,364,438.31 EURO, of which 1,159,772.56 EURO European Union funding through the European Regional Development Fund, 13% of the national budget and 2% of the local budget.
Of the total eligible value of the project, the Museum of Oltenia Craiova has the amount of 459,451.39 EUR.
The general objective of the project is to promote cooperation between institutions and people through the use of cultural and natural resources, in a sustainable tourist way, in Dolj – Montana cross-border region.
The main activities carried out within the project were:
- construction of a museum complex in Varshets: Paleo-Park and Information Center with exhibition space;
- endowment the Museum of Oltenia Craiova with innovative and interactive equipment for carrying out activities of documentation, education and promotion of the cultural heritage held (an interactive hologram, 3 virtual assistants with interactive tables and 3 interactive totems);
- joint activities for cooperation between institutions and professionals working in the field of museums and tourism in Dolj and Montana.
